ABOUT US
At North Central Insurance Agency we are about building relationships. We are an independent insurance agency offering competitive auto, business, farm, homeowners, and life insurance products throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania, the District of Columbia, Delaware, Virginia, and West Virginia.
- Our Companies: As a “Trusted Choice” agency we offer insurance products from a wide variety of insurance companies. We have selected the top insurance companies who share our values of quality, stability, and reasonable pricing. We have relationships with many of these companies that span more than 36 years and continue to add companies that meet our standards.
- Our Staff: David and Hannah have put together a team that is knowledgeable, reliable, understanding, eager to help and loyal.
Terri, Chrissy, Angie, Michelle, Matt, Steve, and Bert provide stellar service to our clients. Ben’s primary responsibilities are sales and marketing. Kym Cavey rounds out the North Central team as office administrator.
- Our Clients: No relationship is more important to us than the relationship we have with our customers. We serve our clients’ insurance needs on a personal level, something you cannot achieve from a call center or website where you have to do the work yourself. Our customer retention rates are among the highest in the industry. Many of our customers have been with us since their first policy and we believe it has everything to do with just how highly we value each and every relationship we have made throughout the years.
Our Team
Our History
Our Founder, Gene Cavey, retired from the Maryland Casualty Insurance Company in 1984 to pursue his lifelong dream of owning his own independent insurance agency. Along with his son, David, they searched for a location near their northern Baltimore County home. In January of 1985, they opened North Central Insurance Agency renting a location on York Road in Hereford, Maryland. Over the next few years, the agency quickly grew. Several insurance agencies were added to the North Central family including, Donahue–Brauner, Fallston Insurance Agency, King Insurance Agency, and the Planned Insurance Agency. In 1996 the agency moved to its current Hereford location adjacent to Interstate 83 and purchased the property in 2002.
Gene and David Cavey brought together the companies and staff needed to remain successful over the years. The key has been the high level of service and understanding given to each of our clients. North Central boasts some of the highest customer retention rates in the industry. In 2009 Gene Cavey passed away but his vision has remained steadfast. North Central Insurance Agency provides its clients with a “Relationship You Can Trust.”
In 2013 Hannah Callihan joined North Central Insurance Agency. Hannah is the third generation at North Central as she follows in the footsteps of her father and grandfather. Hannah is a 2012 graduate of York College of Pennsylvania and holds a CLCS insurance designation. She brought a renewed vigor and drive to the agency that has helped North Central grow and embrace the future.
The Brooks Agency joined the North Central team in 2019 and in 2020 we formed an associate agency with longtime friend Bill Knobloch naming it the Bill Knobloch’s Central insurance Agency. Bill operates this agency with the same level of service and portfolio of companies as North Central Insurance Agency.
In January of 2022 we merged in Local Agency; Burgess insurance Agency, bringing Matt Scott and Steve Kahler into the North Central family. The Raver Insurance Agency and Bert Raver joined North Central early in 2023 giving us a Hampstead location.
Both Hannah and David are graduates of Hereford High School and stay involved with the community. Hannah is president of the Hereford Independence Day Parade & Fire, Council Chair of her local church, and has served on the Baltimore City Chamber of Commerce board and Farm Alliance of Baltimore boards. David serves on the board of the Hereford Zone Business Association and is past president. He also serves as a board member of the Hereford Independence Day Parade & Festival, My Neighbors Foundation, and the Hereford Alumni Association. He was appointed by Governor Hogan in 2015 and is serving a second five-year term on the Maryland Agricultural Fair Board. David was also the charter president of the Hereford Junior Farm Fair and remains involved with the fair. David received the 2017 Outstanding Alumni Award from The Hereford-Sparks Alumni Association.
